Sheffield United finally relinquished star talent David Brooks last week as the young Wales midfielder agreed to join Premier League Bournemouth.

Blades manager Chris Wilder had been hoping to keep hold of the 21-year-old, but it was not to be, as Premier League money once again spoke loudly.

However, with the deal expected to be worth well in excess of £10m to the Blades, Wilder can at least begin planning for the season ahead with a bigger budget, and he will no doubt have a keen eye on one or two players already.

Here at FLW, we'd love to see United go out and make a big money signing, and one player we think they could have a chance of landing is Aston Villa forward Scott Hogan.

The former Brentford man found some element of his best form last season despite initially struggling since making a big money move to Villa Park, and with Villa struggling for finances this summer, he could well be sold to balance the books.

While it's not in United's nature to go spending big, and Hogan would cost a big fee, he could well be the missing part of the jigsaw at Bramall Lane.

Leon Clarke and Billy Sharp both had excellent seasons last term, but if Wilder wants to take United to the next level, a striker of Hogan's calibre could well be what it takes. Quick, good movement, and a lethal finisher, Hogan would be a superb addition for the Blades.

United fans, what do you think? Would this be worth a punt? Let us know in the comments!
