For those of a Sheffield United persuasion the 2017/18 campaign represented a solid return to the Sky Bet Championship and the task for boss Chris Wilder next time around will be to try and break into the play-offs.

The Blades had a quality first half of the campaign before a lack of squad depth saw them fade away towards the back end of the season and deny them a place in the top six.

Wilder is born and bred Sheffield United and he would love nothing more than to lead the club he calls his own into the Premier League at some point in the near future and he will no doubt look to bolster his squad this summer to try and appease his ambitions.

With the Blades heavily reliant on Billy Sharp and Leon Clarke in attack last season, Wilder might look to bolster his options up front and a new striker to provide some competition for the deadly duo is likely to be on the club’s shopping list.

One man who could look to ignite his professional career with Sheffield United is Liverpool and Wales youngster Ben Woodburn who could be available on loan from the Premier League giants.

The 18-year-old only featured once in the top flight for the Reds last season and with a plethora of world class talent at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal it seems unlikely he will feature much during the next campaign either.

A loan spell away from Anfield and the chance to play some much needed first-team football might be just the tonic for Woodburn’s development, whilst his arrival at Bramall Lane could ignite a play-off push for Wilder’s charges.

Sheffield United fans, would you welcome Woodburn to the club? Let us know in the comments below!!!
