Sheffield United are having a tremendous season thus far but suffered a serious setback last month with the devastating season ending injury to midfield ace Paul Coutts.

The former Derby midfielder has been instrumental for the Blades in their rise to the top of the Championship, and his loss will be a big one to Chris Wilder and his charges.

Nevertheless, Wilder is sure to just kick on, but with January around the corner, he will no doubt have one eye on the transfer window and considering just who he could be looking to bring in to strengthen the midfield ranks and replace Coutts.

One such player who springs to mind as being ideal is current Swansea midfielder Leon Britton.

The experienced operator has had quite the career for the Swans, and even spent a short spell with Sheffield United under the late Gary Speed a few seasons back. However, his spell with United was short lived, and he moved back to Wales after less than a year in Sheffield.

He is though a quality midfielder, and could be the ideal sort of signing to fit in with Chris Wilder's team as he looks to guide them to a second successive promotion.

His ability to almost be a water carrier in the middle, keeping the ball and allowing things to tick over, could prove to be a cunning capture by Wilder is he was to pull off the signing of Britton.

Blades fans, what do you think? Would you have Britton back? Let us know!
