Sheffield United have gotten off to quite the start in the Championship this term as they look to make a triumphant return to the second tier after six years away in League One.
After an impressive opening to the season under manager Chris Wilder, the Blades are looking to push on and cement a top six place over the coming winter months, and they will no doubt look forward to January in the hope of strengthening their ranks further.
However, also on the horizon for United and Wilder could be overseeing a few departures from Bramall Lane, with the club having a few players in and around the squad who don’t seem to be getting much of a look in at the moment.
One such player is summer signing Ben Heneghan, who has struggled to make an impression so far as a Blade. Signed by Wilder towards the end of the window, Heneghan was indeed brought in more for potential, and will need time to develop, but a loan move in January to get some first team football could be beneficial.
The 24-year-old will no doubt be being nurtured by Chris Wilder and not thrown in at the deep end while the Blades continue to do well. Heneghan has had time in League One before with the likes of Oldham, and there will no doubt be a host of clubs wanting to sign defenders in January.
While he waits for his chance at Bramall Lane, Heneghan might be wise to seek a move away from Bramall Lane and get some game time under his belt to prime him ready for if Chris Wilder needs him.
Blades fans, what do you think? Would this be a wise move? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
