Sheffield United got their man when Anel Ahmedhodzic was finally confirmed as a Blade yesterday evening.

As per the club themselves, they paid a "substantial undisclosed fee" to land the Bosnian international.

Now, though, with the 23-year-old having linked up with the Blades' pre-season training camp in Portugal, it appears their attention has turned elsewhere.

That's according to The Star, who claim that the club will now step up their pursuit of free agent Tom Lawrence having sealed the aforementioned deal.

Lawrence is available on a free transfer having seen his Derby County contract expire at the end of June.

In the Championship last season, in a struggling Rams side, the Welsh international netted 11 goals and registered five assists.

The 28-year-old has 90 direct goal contributions in 263 Championship appearances throughout his career.

Indeed, he is a goal threat, and a versatile player too, able to play up on the left, as well as up front, and as an attacking midfielder.

In fact, his talents have also attracted interest from the Premier League this summer.

The Verdict

Sheffield United pulled off somewhat of a coup in securing the signature of Anel Ahmedhodzic.

Although the club themselves state they have paid a substantial fee, others have claimed that the club feel the fee paid does not reflect the player's level of ability or potential.

Tom Lawrence would be another good addition for the club.

The numbers he has put up at Derby speak for themselves, and, on a free transfer, there isn't much better business that could be done this summer.
