Sheffield United have decided to reignite their interest in Blackburn Rovers defender Darragh Lenihan, according to a reliable football journalist.
Alan Nixon has reported on his personal Twitter account that Sheffield United are back in for Darragh Lenihan.
Lenihan is highly rated by Blackburn Rovers, who are desperate to keep him this summer.
However, Sheffield United are still in the hunt for his signature.
But Alan Nixon has confirmed that they are currently “miles off” Blackburn’s valuation.
The 23-year-old can play in defence or in midfield but it is thought that Sheffield United want him as a central defender.
The former Republic of Ireland under-21 international has played nearly 100 senior games in his career since graduating from the Blackburn academy.
These are predominantly for Rovers but he also had a loan spell at Burton Albion previously.
Sheffield United have been frustrated in their attempts to land their targets from League One so far this summer.
Charlton Athletic winger Ricky Holmes, Southend United midfielder Ryan Leonard and Blackburn Rovers star Darragh Lenihan have all proved difficult to prise away.
However, the Blades are staying resilient in their pursuit of Darragh Lenihan after missing out on Ethan Ebanks-Landell as a key centre back target.
