Sheffield United ready to trim squad with striker set for move to League One

Sheffield United appear to be willing to let striker Matt Done go back to former club Rochdale, according to respected journalist Alan Nixon.

The 29-year-old forward, who has also been deployed as a winger and even a wing back at times during his time with United, has found himself pushed down the pecking order since Chris Wilder took over at the beginning of last season.

Done joined the Blades from the Dale back in 2015 following a series of impressive performances at Spotland where he became a regular goalscorer and one of the most consistent performers in the league.

His goal record for United has not been overly impressive, but he has endeared himself to Blades fans with his work rate and willingness to play anywhere for the team. He still played a crucial part in United’s promotion winning campaign last term, filling in for Daniel Lafferty down the left and bagging himself a few crucial goals along the way.

His time though now looks to be up at Bramall Lane, and a move back to Rochdale could well be the ideal move for Done as he enters his 30’s this year.

Blades fans, what do you think? Good move to let Done go? Give us your thoughts!
