Sheffield United are readying a big money loan move for Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan.

According to reliable journalist Alan Nixon, Sheffield United are prepared to sign Hogan on a season-long loan and pay his hefty wages in full.

Hogan is currently out injured so has not featured for the Villans this season but Steve Bruce prefers Jonathan Kodjia in the central striker role and he is looking to add another forward.

With Keinan Davis and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy also available when fit, Bruce could be willing to let Hogan go.

Sheffield United are hoping to tempt the West Midlands outfit with a loan bid which indicates their willingness to pay his full wages.

The 26-year-old scored nine times last season for Aston Villa but was more prolific at Brentford, where he hit 21 goals in 36 games for the West London club.

Sheffield United have signed David McGoldrick on a free transfer this summer but are hoping to complete another striker signing before the loan window passes at the end of this month.

The Verdict

Hogan needs a new environment to thrive in again and score plenty of goals and he could get this at Sheffield United.

The former Rochdale forward knows where the net is but has struggled at Aston Villa, where he has suffered injuries and not always been the favoured striker.

The Blades could benefit from having Hogan on their books, competing with McGoldrick, Leon Clarke and Billy Sharp.
