Premier League newboys Sheffield United will make a final £15m bid for Swansea City striker Oliver McBurnie.

According to Alan Nixon, the Blades have made McBurnie their top transfer target for the summer, with Wales Online adding that Chris Wilder's team are set to launch one final big money bid to land the former Barnsley loanee.

McBurnie was in fine form last season as he rattled in 22 goals for the Swans despite their own struggles in mid-table, and he has seen his reputation blossom thanks to that form.

The 22-year-old has been one of the standout strikers in the division over the last 12 months and was always going to be in demand this summer after cementing his place last year as a player who could well make the step up into the Premier League.

Swansea of course are keen on keeping hold of their star man, but Sheffield United are desperate to land some big name signings following their return to the Premier League, and see McBurnie as the ideal man for the job.

However, United won't be held to ransom, with Wales Online reporting that the Blades will move onto Brentford's Neal Maupay if they cannot convince the Swans to part ways with McBurnie.

The Verdict

This has rumbled on for some time now and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Swansea finally cave and allow Sheffield United to hold talks.

McBurnie will want to play in the Premier League and he more than deserves his chance following on from last season.

Chris Wilder has shown himself to be a superb manager and someone McBurnie would surely love to play under. The problem Swansea do have is if they deny him the move, he might well enter next season in the wrong frame of mind.
