Sheffield United continued their fantastic start to the season with a 1-0 win over Ipswich thanks to Chris Basham.

He was the unlikely scorer and now the Blades are only behind second place Cardiff City on goal difference.

After promotion from League One in style, not many predicted Chris Wilder's men to go back down, but few could've anticipated this.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Basham revealed that the spirit within the group is a reason for the success.

It's the best team I have been involved with. Everyone is on it in training every single day. If they're not, they get told, it's as simple as that. It's a really tight knit group, a very close environment, but people express themselves as well.”

The former Blackpool player also praised the depth the club have and how each player knows what responsibilities they have.

That's the good thing about is. We have got lads who can come in, lads go out, but everyone knows what they are doing and there are people who can start in every position.”

The Blades boast the best home record in the division and take on Reading at Bramall Lane next time out.

The Verdict

It's clear to see that the togetherness and spirit that Chris Wilder has created at Sheffield United is a big reason for their success.

Chris Basham outlines the standards that they set each other, even just in training and they're getting rewarded for it now.

With the attitude the squad have and the individual talent, you cannot rule out anything with Sheffield United this season.
