Sheffield United’s Leon Clarke has admitted the main factor behind the club’s success this season has been manager Chris Wilder, reports BBC Radio Sheffield journalist, Jonathan Buchan.

Wilder has led the Blades to the top of the Sky Bet League One table, and his side will secure promotion to the Championship with a victory over Northampton Town on Saturday afternoon.

Clarke scored the all-important opening goal in United’s 2-0 victory over Coventry City last night, helping the club to the brink of a Championship return for the first time since 2011.

Last night’s goal was just Clarke’s fourth of the season and only his second in the league.

When asked on what had been key to the Blades’ success this season, Clarke was blunt with his response, he said: “The manager.”

Wilder’s side are currently six-points clear of second-placed Bolton Wanderers, leaving themselves in pole position to secure the title with just five fixtures of the season remaining.
