Sheffield United defender George Baldock has been linked with a move to Greek Super League Champions Olympiacos.

As per Greek publication TO10.GR, the Greek club are in the market for a full-back this summer, and Baldock is on their transfer shortlist.

How high up this list the Blades defender is remains to be seen, with the article stating that Huddersfield Town's Pipa and Manchester City's Jan Couto are also potential targets for the side.

Olympiacos, who were crowned champions of the Greek Super League last season, are said to be considering their options at present, with no final decision made on who they will target this summer.

George Baldock joined Sheffield United five years ago, and has had an incredible adventure with the club.

The 29-year-old was a member of the Blades squad that won promotion to the Premier League in 2018/19, and the defender featured prominently for the Blades in the top flight.

As Sheffield United returned to the Championship for the 2021/22 season, Baldock appeared 27 times in all competitions for the club.

The right-back has two years remaining on his current deal, which sees him tied to Bramall Lane until 2024.

It is unclear at this stage whether or not Sheffield United would sanction the 29-year-old's sale.

Baldock was recently given his first international caps for the Greek national team, with the defender qualifying through his grandparents.

The Verdict

This is certainly a surprising transfer link, but from the report, the Greek club have a few names on their shortlist.

This means that they may not necessarily make a move for Baldock.

However, given that he has recently made his debut for the Greek national team, it could be that the defender would be open to a potential move to the Champions League side.

It will certainly be interesting to see whether or not anything concrete, such as an offer, comes of Olympiacos' reported interest.
