Speaking on Sheffield United’s official YouTube channel, Leon Clarke has praised the leadership of captain Billy Sharp in the Blades’ promotion campaign in Sky Bet League One.

Chris Wilder’s side secured the League One title over the Easter period with 3-0 victories over both Port Vale and Bradford City, capping a fine season for the Blades.

Clarke scored twice in Monday’s victory over Bradford, with his goals coming either side of Sharp’s 27th strike of the season

Sharp has played a major role in helping Wilder’s side back into the Championship for the first time since 2011, and Clarke was full of praise for his captain, he said: “Bill has been magnificent this season.

“He has led this team magnificently well, I can’t applaud him enough.

“He has captained the team really well and led by example with his goals.”

The Blades still have two fixtures of the League One season remaining, as they travel to MK Dons this weekend, before welcoming Chesterfield to Bramall Lane at the end of April.

Blades fans… How impressed have you been with Sharp this season? Let us know in the comments!
