Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Sheffield United’s latest recruit, Nathan Thomas, has issued a warning to Middlesbrough and Sunderland, stating he is looking to “get one over on them” next season in the Sky Bet Championship.

Thomas joined the Blades from Hartlepool United yesterday, signing a three-year deal at Bramall Lane and making the step from League Two into the Championship.

Speaking just hours after his transfer to South Yorkshire was confirmed, Thomas was asked about which fixtures he was looking forward to next season, he replied: “There is a few, the potential derby with Sheffield Wednesday is a massive game, but Middlesbrough and Sunderland.

“I came through Sunderland’s youth setup and I feel like I need to get one over on them, scoring against them would be great.

“Obviously Middlesbrough too, they were the team I grew up supporting and hopefully I’ll get one over on them too.”

The 22-year old scored nine goals across all competitions last season for Hartlepool, but could not prevent the club from slipping out of the Football League on the final day of the League Two campaign.

Thomas becomes Chris Wilder’s second summer signing, following Ched Evans through the door at Bramall Lane, ahead of the Blades’ return to the Championship.
