According to the Sheffield Star, Sheffield United have opened talks with Ryan Bennett, over the possibility of the free agent moving to Bramall Lane this summer.
Bennett, 27, has been released by Norwich City this summer, ending a five-year association with the Canaries, which has seen him make over 100 appearances in five-and-a-half seasons.
The central defender was part of the Norwich squad that achieved promotion to the Premier League in 2015, and has made the majority of his appearances for the Canaries in the top-flight.
During the 2016/17 campaign, Bennett made 37 appearances across all competitions, as Norwich struggled to a disappointing eighth-placed finish in the Sky Bet Championship.
Newly-promoted Sheffield United, are keen to sign the experienced defender on a free, as Chris Wilder moulds his squad ahead of the Blades’ first Championship campaign since 2011.
A central defender is high on Wilder’s agenda, following the arrival of three new players already this summer.
The Blades have already signed Enda Stevens, Nathan Thomas and Ched Evans.
