Sheffield United midfielder David Brooks is a target for Turkish giants Fenerbahce, according to reports in Turkish outlet Ajansspor.

Last season saw the former Manchester City trainee sign a new four-year deal with the club, meaning any overtures made by the Turkish side would need to be accompanied by a hefty amount of money.

Brooks came through the Blades academy after joining the club from Manchester City in 2014. His first taste of men's football came when was loaned out to National League side Halifax, shortly after signing his first full-time deal with United in 2015.

He made his first appearance in red and white stripes in the EFL Trophy in 2016/17, with a debut against Leicester City U23s. He appeared this season against Walsall in the EFL Cup and has been a staple of the first team squad ever since.

20-year old Brooks played 33 times for the Blades last season, as well as representing Wales on three occasions. The Warrington-born midfielder had played for England at U20 level, but switched to Wales in 2017, eligible courtesy of his Llangollen-born mother.

The Verdict

Chris Wilder is unlikely to let his prize asset go on the cheap, especially as he appears to be coming into his own right now.

If Fenerbahce are to pull of the transfer it would likely cost them a huge sum of money, something that would ultimately benefit Wilder's side in the long run. It's still highly unlikely to happen though, even for silly money.
