Sheffield United defender Martin Cranie has insisted he is not worried about his contract situation at Bramall Lane, insisting 'it will get done' this month.

The former Portsmouth man signed a short-term deal in the summer, and despite only making a handful of appearances, has impressed manager Chris Wilder with his professionalism and willingness to step in when needed, just as he did last weekend at Wigan.

And speaking to the Sheffield Star, Cranie revealed he is happy at Bramall Lane and has no worries over whether his deal will be sorted until the summer or not.

"It will get sorted out this month, I'm not worried about it. It might have been difficult for the manager because I've not played many games but hopefully I've still contributed and it's great that he's got that trust in me." said Cranie.

An FA Cup winner with Pompey some years back, Cranie is expected to play once again for United when they welcome Barnet to Bramall Lane in what could prove to be a big chance for Chris Wilder's fringe players to make a big impression on proceedings.

The Blades are currently sitting in the top three of the Championship after a fine run of form has seen them propel themselves back into automatic promotion contention.

The Verdict

Cranie is just the sort of professional successful clubs need, and he isn't a bad player either when given the chance.

Chris Wilder will love Cranie's attitude to the game and will know he is a key man going forward.

Hopefully his contract is sorted ASAP and Cranie can continue to contribute to life at Bramall Lane.
