Ambitious League One outfit Sheffield United are eyeing up a loan move for Leicester City midfielder Dean Hammond, according to HITC.
Hammond has been frustrated in his attempts to play first-team football following the Foxes’ promotion to the Premier League and featured just 12 times last season, mainly as a substitute.
He has played for Claudio Ranieri’s men once this season in the Capital One Cup but at the age of 32, the ex-Southampton player is keen to play regular first-team football.
Blades boss Nigel Adkins knows Hammond well with the duo spending time together at St. Mary’s Stadium, where Southampton won back-to-back promotions from League One into the Premier League, and Adkins is keen to be reunited with Hammond at Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United have started the season in reasonably good style and currently sit third in the League One table, although Tuesday night’s defeat to Colchester United handed the club a setback in their quest for automatic promotion.
The Blades currently sit in fifth place in Sky Bet League One, having amassed 12 points from seven league games.
