Sheffield United have been named as the club to have had an offer accepted for Preston North End winger Callum Robinson, according to Football Insider.
This comes after Preston confirmed in a statement on Thursday afternoon that they have accepted a bid from an unnamed Premier League club for the 24-year-old’s services.
It has now emerged that newly-promoted Sheffield United are the side in question, with Robinson now scheduled to discuss personal terms and undertake a medical at Bramall Lane ahead of a reported £6million move.
Robinson is now set to depart Deepdale following the most prolific season of his career last term, where he managed to score 13 goals in 28 appearances despite seeing his season hampered by injury.
This is an exciting signing for Sheffield United, who have made a solid start to their transfer window.
Robinson was a real handful at Preston last season, and he seems like the kind of player who would be a good fit for Chris Wilder’s side with his pace and hard-working attitude.
I also think the Blades have pulled off a good deal to land Robinson if the £6million fee is correct, as Preston fans would have surely been hoping to receive more money for a player who poses their biggest goalscoring threat.
It is now crucial that Preston re-invest these funds into Alex Neil’s transfer budget, as the Lilywhites now desperately need to bring in attackers who can replace Robinson’s goals.
