Sheffield United are hopeful of bringing in attacker Yanic Wildschut in what would be a surprise January move for the player currently at Bolton.

The 27-year-old joined the Trotters on a season-long loan back in the summer from Norwich but he hasn't made the impact Phil Parkinson would've wanted.

Even though he has featued in 16 games this season, he has failed to make the matchday squad in the last three games and has started just once since October.

Therefore, it's fair to say he's not a player that Parkinson needs and he could be tempted to allow him to move on in order to free up space to bring someone else in.

And, journalist Alan Nixon has revealed that he could be set to make another temporary switch to Bramall Lane for the remainder of the campaign.

Boss Chris Wilder is desperate to add reinforcements during the January window as his side look to maintain their promotion push.

The Yorkshire outfit have already completed the signing of attacking midfielder Kieran Dowell who has arrived from Everton until the end of the season.

The Verdict

This would be a shock move and you can't really see what Wildschut would bring to the Blades squad.

He has pace and is direct but he is far too inconsistent and it doesn't really make sense that he can't get in the Bolton squad but could end up playing for a side competing for promotion!

So, it will be interesting to see how this plays out but Wilder does need to get new players in.
