FLW understands Nigel Clough's Sheffield United have joined SPL champions Celtic and Ipswich Town in the race to sign the promising 18-year-old midfielder.

The young star is becoming one of the most sought after young talents in Sky Bet League Two, with him all but set to leave Micky Mellon's Shrewsbury Town in this upcoming summer transfer window.

Ginnelly is a versatile player who can be utilised as either a winger or just behind the main striker, however he has only ever made three senior appearances for the Shropshire club.

The winger began his professional career at Premier League club Aston Villa but ended up joining Shrewsbury, and he has since gone on to excel and develop at a rapid rate in the youth system at the club.

Nigel Clough's Sheffield United are well in a play-off race at the moment in Sky Bet League One, with the club currently sat in fifth place in the division.

The Blades will be looking to add to their squad if they attain promotion to the Championship or remain in League One, and it seems Ginnelly is one of the transfer targets on their list.
