Liverpool are reportedly ready to let Ben Davies leave the club on loan this summer transfer window, in a potential boost to Sheffield United's hopes of signing the player.

The defender joined the Reds back in the January window of last season in a permanent deal from Preston North End.

Indeed, it provided him with a big opportunity to play for one of the country's most iconic clubs but things simply have not worked for him on Merseyside.

He's yet to make an appearance for them, in fact, and could now be leaving the club on loan with Sheffield United reportedly in prime position.

This comes from Neil Jones:

The Verdict

Davies surely wants to make at least one appearance for the Reds in a competitive setting before he leaves the club for good and the potential for a loan exit at least means that the door is not completely shut on that prospect.

He needs to be at a club where he is going to be playing regularly, however, and if that is not going to be happening at Liverpool this season then a move would make sense for him.

Clearly, too, the Reds are open to that now and so we'll have to see if the Blades or anyone else manage to get him.
