Sheffield United have won two of their opening four games in the Championship this season to get themselves off to a steady start overall.

The Blades, who snatched a last gasp win over Norwich City yesterday very nearly made the top six last term as they faded away towards the end of the campaign, and expectations were higher than before going into this campaign.

However, there is a feeling that United need to strengthen further before the end of August if they are to be real contenders for the top six, and with that, manager Chris Wilder simply needs to find a parter for striker Billy Sharp.

The goals from regular goal getter from last term Leon Clarke appear to have dried up, while free agent signing David McGoldrick is not expected to be the 20 goal a season man United crave.

However, in Sharp, the Blades might already have that man, and it could be a case of making sure they find the right partner to simply get the most out of their experienced skipper.

Sharp has scored three in the last week since being brought back into the starting XI, and if manager Chris Wilder can indeed find that partner for Sharp in the coming weeks, then United could well find themselves in the mixer come the end of the campaign.

The Blades are well below the budget of plenty of clubs in the second tier, but Wilder is building something special at Bramall Lane which could well tempt a top name from the Premier League to drop down and partner Sharp to fire the Blades to promotion.
