David Brooks has been one of the standout talents in the Championship this season and has unsurprisingly caught the attention of a host of Premier League sides.

Despite only recently extending his contract at Bramall Lane, the Mirror are reporting that Tottenham and Liverpool are leading the chase to sign the Welsh international.

The 20-year old has burst onto the scene this season, mesmerising fans with his speed and trickery and contributing significantly to the Blades lofty league position. Brooks was influential in derby day successes against Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds over the past few months.

This has brought international recognition, with Brooks earning his full debut as Wales drew 1-1 against Panama in the international break just gone. Whilst it was a poor result for the national team, the Blades man was given man of the match for his performance.

The report values Brooks at around £20m and the four-year contract that he signed during this season will mean that should any transfer occur, the Yorkshire club would be primed to get a huge fee for the deal.

The Verdict

Sheffield United fans will accept that David Brooks is going to step up in the coming years, especially if they are in the Championship, as he has the potential to go to the very top.

However, that won’t happen in January. It’s easy to see why clubs are interested but the Blades won’t sell and I doubt Brooks would want to leave given their position.

Chris Wilder and the club deserve huge credit for how they’ve developed him as a player and he still has a massive role to play at Bramall Lane and if things go to plan he could be lining up against Spurs and Liverpool next season anyway.
