Sheffield United are lining up a sensational January swoop for Birmingham City star Jota.

According to Football Insider, the Blades are on the lookout for more creativity as they look to sustain a promotion charge.

Chris Wilder has earmarked Jota as a potential acquisition to add more flair to his side who are currently atop the summit of the Championship.

After 12 matches this season, the Blades are one point clear at the top ahead of West Bromwich Albion who are narrowly behind them in the standings.

Despite not being at the peak of his powers this term, Jota has managed to be one of the more creative outlets for Garry Monk’s side and has managed to score once and register four assists this season.

The 27-year-old has played in every minute of every league match this term for the Blues and has been one of their standout individuals at St. Andrew's.

Sheffield United may not have been aiming for the Premier League this year, but after their sensational start, it is now an attainable goal.

With the need for more attacking influence will be necessary, Jota is reportedly the man Wilder wants to lead the charge.

The Verdict

Wow, this could well be a fantastic signing for Sheffield United.

Since his move from Brentford - where he was consistently in good form - and going to Birmingham, he has been one of their best performances this term, as well as last term, too.

Sheffield United will need some creativity if they are aiming to sustain their Premier League promotion charge.

They are currently top of the division and will need added strength in depth if they are to reach the top-flight.

This could make all the difference in the Blades going up and remaining in the Championship.
