Sheffield United defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has been told he has the chance to cement a place in the USA mens national team in this weekend's fixture with European Champions, Portugal.

In a report by the Sheffield Star, it is reported that Carter-Vickers has been informed by a senior figure within the USA team that he has a high chance of securing his long term position within the squad if he can make an impression against the Portuguese.

"For a lot of the younger players coming in this is the start of a new era in our program and so it’s important to set the right tone and make sure they all really get a grasp of what this means and the honour that comes with playing for your national team." USA manager Dave Sarachan is quoted as saying.

Carter-Vickers will no doubt come under this banner and after impressing for the Blades so far following his loan spell from Tottenham Hotspur, the young defender will no doubt be hoping to make an impression on the international scene and impress his club manager Mauricio Pochettino even more.
