Sheffield United could try their luck to strike a deal with Manchester United in January for 19-year-old Amad Diallo, as per a report from The Star.

The Blades set their sights on the exciting winger during the summer transfer window, however, a deal between both parties failed to materialise.

Diallo, who joined the Premier League giants for what was a reported fee of €40 million in October last year, eventually touched down in England in January.

Appearing in the Europa League, FA Cup, and making three Premier League appearances for The Red Devils, Diallo enjoyed a strong start to life in Manchester.

Diallo also netted four and assisted three in just three Premier League 2 matches.

Sheffield United started slowly, but the summer ended as a relatively positive transfer window, adding the likes of Ben Davies, Conor Hourihane, and Morgan Gibbs-White to the squad.

The verdict

Despite it being a strong window for The Blades, this is a signing that they would love to make.

Not only would his signature be a real statement of intent, but he has shown in glimpses at United that he has what it takes to thrive in competitive football in England.

Diallo's pace, trickery, and subsequent end-product, all make him an exciting winger who would surely enjoy an excellent spell in the Championship.

This is certainly a deal that would help them in their promotion ambitions, and whilst they still sit in the bottom half of the table, their form over the last few weeks does suggest that it will not be long until they cross that mid-table region.
