Sheffield United are considering a loan move for Leeds United youngster Kalvin Phillips, a club insider from the Blades has informed Football League World.
The 19-year-old midfielder has been showing a lot of potential in the Leeds United professional set-up recently after graduating from the Farnley Academy in 2012.
However, as the youngster strives for first-team experience, FLW have been informed from a source close to Sheffield United, that Nigel Adkins is keen on acquiring his services through the emergency loan market.
The club will only be able to sign him on a short-term basis, but first-team football in League One will assist the youngster’s development and will bolster Sheffield United’s squad as they aim for the upper-reaches of the Sky Bet League One table.
Phillips captained the Leeds United development squad last season after signing a professional contract with the West-Yorkshire club in the summer of 2014.
However, the starlet may be making the short trip south down the M1 to gain the first team experience needed to excel in the future.
Whether or not a deal will be struck remains to be seen, but if both parties see a move as beneficial, then we could be seeing the central midfielder playing at Bramall Lane this season.
