Eagles is a target for Sheffield United

The current free agent was released by Bolton in May after three years at the club, and is now searching for a new club to kick start his career again, after a frustrating campaign at Wanderers.

The former Manchester United and Burnley winger made just 16 appearances during the 2013/14 season, scoring just once as Dougie Freedman opted for Neil Danns instead.

Eagles signed from Bolton in a joint £3 million move with Tyrone Mears from Burnley in the summer of 2011, and went onto make 93 appearances for the Trotters.

Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough is eager to make another addition to the squad before the end of the summer transfer window, and is eyeing a move for the experienced midfielder.
