Blades boss Nigel Adkins is confident that he can sign Leicester midfielder Dean Hammond in a loan deal, ClubCall reports.
The 32-year-old has only made one appearance which was in the League Cup away at Bury. He has yet to have made a Premier League appearance and it seems highly unlikely that he will break into the team.
Sheffield United, the pre-season favourites to win the league are currently placed 7th in the League One table and eight points off the top spot.
Hammond has been a target for the Yorkshire club for some time now and could have already been at Sheffield United if it wasn’t for Claudio Ranieri including Hammond in his plans as a back-up midfielder.
Hammond was in the Southampton squad that was promoted from League One and the Championship, and was also in the Leicester squad that won the Championship in the 13/14 season.
He has the experience in gaining promotion that Sheffield United’s team is needing at the moment.
