Sheffield United have enjoyed a pretty solid return to the second tier of English football and in the last few days of the window they need to make sure they capitalise on that.

The Blades are looking well-adapted to the Championship at the moment but that can all change swiftly and so they'll need to keep their performances up as the season goes on.

Whilst we wait to see how they do in that regard, then, the club is seemingly closing in on a very impressive looking loan deal involving Spurs defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Indeed, that is according to Sky Sports at least who are of the opinion that the move should go through in the pretty near future.

Certainly, signing the American defender would be a pretty decent looking deal with him already close to breaking through into the Spurs side and so if he can impress with the Blades, he'll be looking good to achieve that.

United have played with a back-three this season, too, like Spurs do at times and so the system could help Carter-Vickers develop perfectly into what the Lilywhites' manager Mauricio Pochettino wants.

The Verdict

This could be a very good move for all involved.

Carter-Vickers is seen as one of the most promising young players at Tottenham at the moment and it's only because of their superb defensive talents in the first team that he hasn't played more.

He needs the chance to develop, then, and should have plenty of scope to do that at Bramall Lane.
