Sheffield United boss Slavisa Jokanovic makes admission involving Bournemouth’s Scott Parker

Sheffield United boss Slavisa Jokanovic has told Yorkshire Live that his side will not be put at a disadvantage because of his relationship with Bournemouth boss Scott Parker.

The Blades and the Cherries go head to head this weekend at the Vitality Stadium, with the match also pitting together the two former Fulham managers following their stint working alongside each other for the West London side.

Parker was initially the Serbian’s player before eventually going on to become his assistant prior to Jokanovic’s departure from Craven Cottage.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game, the Sheffield United boss was quick to state that his existing relationship with his opposite number in the dugout will have little bearing on his plans to get three points on the South Coast:

“It’s a normal thing, he was my skipper, my assistant and now my rival. This is part of the job. It’s not difficult for either of us, it’s normal, we are in the same competition and we both want to win the game.

“He knows how I want to play the game, he understands my targets. He does a lot of the things that we did together, I can see that in his style that he tries to use but in a different way.”

Bournemouth currently occupy second position in the Sky Bet Championship, whilst Sheffield United by comparison are in 13th.

When did Billy Sharp make his debut for Sheffield United?

A win for either of these sides could see them give their ambitions for gaining promotion back to the Premier League a big boost at an important stage of the season.

The Verdict

The relationship between the two managers is an interesting sub plot but all in all, it shouldn’t have too much of an affect on what happens on the pitch.

Both sides need to get three points for different reasons and it will certainly be interesting to see if the Blades really go for it in this game.

A win away at Bournemouth would be a big statement of intent for Jokanovic’s men and would arguably show that they are ready to be in the mix for a top six place.

This certainly promises to be an intriguing clash between two exciting sides.
