The Blades faced Swindon Town in the second leg of the League One semi-final at the County Ground on Monday night, in a game that was nothing short of sensational.

The match between the two clubs ended in an astonishing 5-5 draw, ultimately finishing 7-6 on aggregate, in favour of Mark Cooper’s Swindon Town.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post after the match, Clough said:

“In the first 15 minutes it could have been 3-3, but they put their chances away and we didn’t.

“The fact we were still going in the 97th and 98th minutes was encouraging.

“You cannot describe how disappointed we are.”

The Robins will face Simon Grayson’s Preston North End in the Sky Bet League One play-off final at Wembley.

The club broke the record of the most goals scored in a Football League play-off match, with a simply incredible 10 goals being scored on the night.
