MK Dons, Coventry and Sheffield United are all linked with the marksman who scored 23 goals in his debut season at the club, according to Online reports.

Winnall, who started his career at Wolves, has just one year left on his contract and chairman Peter Swann confirmed the improved contract.

“We promised Sam that we would put something on the table for him and we have done that now,” said Swann, speaking to Epworth Bells.

“It is a vast improvement on his current deal, so hopefully we can get an answer on that quite quickly.

“If he doesn’t want to accept it then that is fair enough and we will have to sit down and see what the club can do, but there is minimal room for negotiation.”
