Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest are among those interested in signing Sam Clucas this summer, according to Alan Nixon.
Clucas’ future at Stoke is up in the air, having made only 24 Championship appearances for the Potters this season, scoring three goals and adding two assists.
The 30-year-old signed for Stoke in the summer of 2018, arriving on a four-year deal from Swansea City for a fee in the region of £6million.
With one year left on his contract, though, a number of clubs are said to be keen on signing the versatile midfielder, according to Alan Nixon.
Nixon claims that Sheffield United are in for the midfielder, with Forest, Blackburn and Millwall also keeping an eye on his situation at the bet365 Stadium.
Clucas has made 100 appearances for Stoke, scoring 16 goals and adding 12 assists. The Lincoln-born midfielder plays in central midfield, but can play further forward or slightly deeper if needs be.
This could be a top signing for either Sheffield United or Forest.
You look at both of those clubs, and they need depth in midfield, especially with John Lundstram leaving Sheffield United and James Garner returning to Manchester United after a spell at Forest.
Clucas has done very well at this level before, and even though he’s getting on a bit now, I think he’d add a lot of technical ability to whoever he signs for.
If someone can get him for a cut-price, then it has potential to be a shrewd deal.
