Sheffield United are said to like Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville, as a potential move away from Elland Road looms this summer.

Summerville is entering the last 12 months of his deal at Leeds and, at this moment in time, there’s been no agreement to extend that.

That possibility might still play out, yet Summerville has plenty of interest heading into the summer transfer window.

The Athletic report how Sheffield United are one EFL side that like the Dutch winger, whilst Nottingham Forest - promoted from the Championship last season - are another.

There’s also said to be interest from abroad in the 20-year-old.

Summerville made six appearances in the Premier League last season for Leeds, but was behind the likes of Raphinha, Jack Harrison and Daniel James in the pecking order under both Marcelo Bielsa and then Jesse Marsch.

The winger, though, has been extremely productive at Premier League 2 level, in both Division 1 and Division 2, over the last two seasons. In 26 appearances, he’s scored 12 goals and registered a further six assists.

The Verdict

Summerville is a really good player and the general feeling at Leeds is that he’s deserving of some senior football now after his form at U23 level.

Whether that’s in the Championship or abroad remains to be seen, yet Sheffield United interest catches the eye.

They’ve lost Morgan Gibbs-White’s creativity now and that’ll need replacing. Although Summerville is a different player and slightly more raw, he’d still be an exciting Premier League loan.

Paul Heckingbottom’s squad does lack attacking options out wide, robbing them of the chance to move away from a 3-5-2 system. Summerville would give them a chance to do something a bit different across a 46-game season.
