Aston Villa and Sheffield United have both enquired about taking Leonardo Ulloa from Leicester City when the transfer window opens, according to the Daily Mail's live blog (15:15pm).

The 31-year old enjoyed a successful time in the second tier with Brighton a few seasons ago but has found playing time hard to come by in the Premier League with the Foxes.

Ulloa has hit out at the club in the past for denying him a move, however once again Leicester are expected to want to keep the Argentinian.

Since Claude Puel’s appointment the striker has returned to the fold and has been used as a substitute for the last three games.

Whilst he has only played a combined 15 minutes in those games, under Craig Shakespeare Ulloa wasn’t even getting in the squad.

Despite that, both Villa and the Blades have asked about Ulloa with Steve Bruce and Chris Wilder desperately chasing January deals.

Villa in particular are short up front, with Jonathan Kodjia potentially missing the entire season after suffering an ankle injury on international duty.

The Verdict

Fans of both clubs will be glad to see they’re chasing a player like Ulloa who would surely be a big hit in the league, although it doesn’t look as though the deal will come off.

A lot will depend on Leicester’s plans and if they can entice a new forward then surely the former Brighton man would be available.

The Championship duo will be hoping something does change as Ulloa would enhance most sides in the division.
