A number of Sky Bet League One clubs including Sheffield United look set to fight over Conference star Nicky Devericks, according to FLW sources.
Devericks is currently plying his trade for Dover Athletic in the Conference and he has performed outstandingly this season, contributing 12 goals and over 20 assists from central midfield.
The 27-year-old originally started at his home town club Newcastle United before being released in 2006, he then moved to Gretna FC and shined in their promotion to the SPL, before the sad death of the owner causing the club to disband.
FLW understands Sheffield United are just one of the clubs keeping tabs on the impressive midfielder, however they will have to battle a plethora of other League One and League Two clubs for his signature.
Devericks then joined Burton Albion and became an instant hit picking up the MVP award in his first season.
After deciding to go abroad, Nicky had some unsuccessful spells in Scandinavia and the Faroe Islands, a move that he now feels that the bad advice he was given could have ruined his career.
After returning to the UK in 2013, Nicky joined the i2i academy. The i2i academy is a York based facility that has excelled in the ability to breed full professionals and be able to offer them the chance to find a new club.
A member of the academy cannot praise Devericks enough, calling him a complete professional and is driven for success.
Since agreeing to be represented by i2i sports ltd, Nicky was offered the opportunity to join the recently promoted Dover Athletic in the summer of 2014, and has since proved to be a pivotal player for the club.
His contribution of 12 goals and over 20 assists being one of the highlights for the club. Dover have since finished 8th this season above all expectations and Devericks has been a influential part of that.
Devericks was willing to take a step down to the Conference and he has now been rewarded with clubs in the League One and Two vying for his signature.
