Sheffield United agree Kieron Freeman fee

Sheffield United have agreed a fee with Derby County for full-back Kieron Freeman, according to Sky Sports journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Freeman ended last season on loan at Bramall Lane.

Freeman ended last season on loan at Bramall Lane.

The Wales under-21 international spent the end of last season on loan with Nigel Clough’s side, making 12 appearances as the Blades finished 7th in League One. Freeman has been one of Nigel Clough’s top transfer targets this summer and he is now close to getting his man.

The 22 year-old came through the academy at Nottingham Forest before Nigel Clough signed the full-back for Derby County in 2012 following an impressive loan spell with Notts County. Freeman has largely been a utility player with the Rams, making 25 appearances in two seasons and being loaned out on three separate occasions.

It appears that the Freeman is now surplus to requirements at Derby County following the signing of Coventry City full-back Cyrus Christie this summer.

Sheffield United recently sold centre-back Harry Maguire to Premier League Hull City and are in the hunt for new defensive recruits.
