Sheffield United defender John Egan is confident that the Blades can survive in the Premier League next season and is determined to prove the doubters wrong.
Chris Wilder’s side will return to the Premier League next season, after a twelve-year absence, following an outstanding campaign in the Championship.
The Blades finished second in the table, securing automatic promotion to the top flight, just two seasons after winning the League One title.
Egan is aware that Sheffield United will face a challenging season in the Premier League next term, but is confident that the team have got what it takes to survive in the top flight and is determined to prove the doubters wrong.
“It’s all about proving people wrong,” Egan told Sky Sports.
“You can’t going into any game with a negative mentality. Yeah, it’s going to be tough there are some really good teams in the Premier League and in some games we are going to be up against it.
“But we have to believe in ourselves, to try and improve further and stay in the league. That’s the objective.”
Egan was an important player for Sheffield United this season, making 44 appearances for the Blades in the Championship, scoring one goal.
Sheffield United were outstanding in the Championship this season and the players deserve tremendous credit for what they were able to achieve.
It will be a challenging season for them next term, but the team showed this season that they have great character and will give everything to survive in the top flight.
After what they have achieved this season, the Blades have every reason to be confident going into the Premier League.
