Sheffield United forward Ollie McBurnie has taken to his personal Twitter account to share a message to supporters insisting that he has misses playing in front of them at Bramall Lane.

McBurnie endured a difficult season in the Premier League, alongside most of the Blades’ squad, and the forward could only manage one goal in his 23 league appearances. That comes after he hit six league goals in 36 matches in his first campaign with the club in 2019/20.

Following Sheffield United’s relegation to the Championship, McBurnie has already been a player attracting a lot of transfer interest.

It has been reported by the Daily Mail that Rangers are potentially interested in making a move for the Scotland international. That report added the Blades are thought to be holding out for around £15 million for him.

A further report from Claret and Hugh has suggested that West Ham could also be in the market for McBurnie this summer. It is believed that he is one of the options that David Moyes could consider as he looks to improve the number of options he has available to him in the final third.

McBurnie has now taken to his personal Twitter account in response to a post from the Blades’ official account. He insisted he has been missing the supporters inside the stadium and suggested that he can not wait for them to potentially return in the Championship.

The Verdict

The Scotland international might be facing a huge decision over his future this summer. Sheffield United have yet to receive any formal approaches for him but there does certainly seem to be some interest in the striker from elsewhere. The Blades would surely benefit from keeping hold of him because he has the potential to be a match-winner in the Championship.

McBurnie fired home 22 league goals in his last season in the Championship with Swansea City prior to his move to Sheffield United. That shows that given the right service he will be scoring goals for them next term under Slavisa Jokanovic.

This latest message suggests that McBurnie is open to remaining with the club and playing in front of their vociferous crowd once again next term. There might be some fans who would take an offer of around £10 to £15 million for the forward, and whilst that would represent good money for him, the Blades might be better off trying to ensure he stays with them.
