Middlesbrough fell to a 5-1 defeat against German second-tier side Heidenheim this afternoon as they gear up for their Championship opener against Luton.

Jonathan Woodgate is now in charge of the Teesside following Tony Pulis' exit and he was hoping to build a team with a new style of play that could compete for promotion.

However, even though it's only pre-season, the early signs aren't positive as Boro were outclassed for large parts against the Bundesliga II side, although they had gone ahead through an own goal.

But, a remarkable second half saw Boro ship five goals in the final 24 minutes of the game.

Whilst they had made a few changes by that stage of the game, there were still experienced faces out there for Woodgate and the manner of the collapse has understandably concerned supporters.
