‘Shame it never worked out’, ‘Buy him back’ – Plenty of Nottingham Forest fans react to ex-player’s weekend display

Jason Cummings came off the bench to score twice as Shrewsbury Town drew 2-2 with Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Sam Ricketts’ side found themselves 2-0 down shortly after the half-time interval after a Donald Love own-goal doubled the Reds’ lead, but Cummings was Salop’s hero.

The Scottish forward came off the bench to score a brace to earn Shrewsbury a dream replay at Anfield, where they will be looking to defy the odds and pull of a major cup upset against the Premier League leaders.

Cummings has now scored seven goals for Shrewsbury this season, and has certainly enjoyed a new lease of life since departing Nottingham Forest in the summer.

The 24-year-old signed for Forest in the summer of 2017, but went on to score four goals in only 17 appearances for the Reds following his arrival from Hibernian.

But after finding his goalscoring touch once again, Forest fans have reacted to Cummings’ impressive display against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Some are even regretting letting Cummings leave, given that the Reds are still on the lookout for a new forward to provide cover for Lewis Grabban with only a few days to go until the transfer window slams shut…
