Ipswich Town have confirmed that Flynn Downes has left the club to sign for Swansea City on a permanent basis.

Downes first signed for the Tractor Boys back in 2006, and went on to make 99 appearances in total for the club’s first-team over the years.

That included 25 appearances in the 2020/21 season, as Paul Cook’s side finished ninth in the League One table last term.

Downes has joined a Swansea team that will be hoping they can challenge for promotion into the Premier League once again, having been beaten by Brentford in the Championship play-off final at Wembley earlier this year.

Ipswich will be looking to win promotion from the third-tier this term under Cook’s management, and they’ll be be eager to pick up their first competitive win this season, when they host League Two side Newport County in the First Round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.

Which player scored Ipswich's first goal in each of the last15 seasons?
