Over the course of the summer transfer window, Nottingham Forest bid farewell to a number of first-team players as Sabri Lamouchi looked to reshape the squad left at his disposal by Martin O'Neill.

The Reds bid farewell to a number of attacking players in particular, with Jason Cummings, Daryl Murphy, Apostolos Vellios and Hillal Soudani all completing moves away from the City Ground and moving onto pastures new.

The latter's departure, though, came as a somewhat surprise to the Forest faithful, having only spent one year on Trentside.

Here, we take a look at how Forest fans reacted to Soudani's departure, and how his move to Olympiacos has panned out since.

Soudani was brought to the City Ground by Aitor Karanka last summer, arriving on a three-year deal from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.

The Algerian forward was a prolific goalscorer during his time in Zagreb, scoring 86 goals over five seasons, arriving at the City Ground with large expectations placed upon his shoulders.

The 31-year-old hit the ground running on Trentside, and scored the winning goal after coming off the bench against Reading in their second game of the season.

A week after, Soudani made another massive impact after coming on as a substitute, netting a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Wigan at the DW Stadium.

But Soudani's season was thrown into limbo when he picked up a long-term injury against Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup, in late October.

That happened to be his final appearance for the Reds, and despite making only eight appearances in all competitions for Forest, he was the first player to leave the club in the summer.

Forest fans were left very surprised at this news, having not really being given a chance to make a proper impact at the City Ground...

Since his move to Greece, Soudani has made an immediate impact like he did in the East Midlands.

The Algerian has made five appearances in all competitions for Olympiacos, making only two appearances from the off, and scoring two goals so far this season.

He has looked bright in the Champions League when he has played, and all in all, he has been a success since making the move.

Forest have been left considerably short of options in their attacking armory, and with Rafa Mir and Lewis Grabban their only out-and-out strikers at present, they could perhaps do with a bright, lively player like Soudani right now.
