Aston Villa and Birmingham City have been charged with failing to control their players in the aftermath of Sunday's explosive derby at St Andrew's.

The game was most notable for the abhorrent attack on Jack Grealish by a rival fan, something the offender has since received 14 weeks in prison for.

Grealish went on to score the winner and sparked more controversial scenes as he leapt into the visiting supporters.

The niggly encounter ended up in defeat for the home side, but the vitriol boiled over on too many occasions for the FA's liking, and they've taken the appropriate action.

Needless to say, reaction on social media has focused on the attack on Grealish and perceived stewarding issues which allowed it to happen in the first place.

Local derby matches always have a bit of needle and aggresion, but something about Birmingham and Aston Villa seems that little bit more aggresive than most.

Fans have take to Twitter, mainly to express surprise at the charges given what else occurred in the stadium on the day.
