A number of Derby County supporters have been reacting to the latest report from The Sun that manager Wayne Rooney is set to consider his future if the club are relegated down to League One.

The Rams have been found to have broken profitability and sustainability rules for the way that they filed their accounts for the three-year period ending June 30 2018.

That has seen the club be handed a £100,000 fine and also a reprimand, but they have seemingly avoided a points deduction.

However, the EFL are thought to still be thinking that a points deduction is still an option for them to punish the Rams. They have released an interchangeable fixture list for next term that would enable Wycombe Wanderers to take their place in the Championship if needed.

The latest report from The Sun has revealed that Rooney would be prepared to walk away from the Rams if they were to be hit with a points deduction that would be re-applied to last season and see them drop down into the third tier.

It is believed that leading a cash strapped Derby side in League One might not be the best option for Rooney’s long-term management career and therefore he is prepared to leave should that situation arise in the coming weeks.

Some Derby fans were saying that they would also walk away if they were in Rooney’s shoes, while one or two others were suggesting that they would be happy to see him depart the club.
