Schalke were hammered 4-0 by Borussia Dortmund on the return of the Bundesliga and plenty of Huddersfield Town fans have aimed digs at David Wagner.
Wagner spent four years in charge of the Terriers and led them up to the Premier League in the 2016/17 campaign.
The German coach left the Yorkshire club in 2019 and was appointed as Schalke boss ahead of this season.
The attention of the world turned to Germany today as the Bundesliga got back underway – the first of the major football leagues to restart following the delay to the season.
Wagner’s side travelled to Signal Iduna Park to face Dortmund in the Ruhr Derby for their first game back and were hammered 4-0.
The electric Erling Braut Haaland continued his breakneck start to life in the Bundesliga and added the opening goal, his 10th in nine matches in the division.
Thorgen Hazard grabbed the second before Raphael Guerreiro bagged a brace to secure a comfortable victory for the hosts.
Have these 15 current Huddersfield Town players been capped at international level? – Yes or no? Have a go now!
It was a strange occasion, with no fans allowed in the stadium, but Schalke were inexcusably lacklustre and many Huddersfield fans have taken to Twitter to aim digs at their former coach following the game.
