Barnsley suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Preston North End last night and many Tykes fans have been heavily critical of defender Mads Andersen.

A brace from Tom Barkuizen and Daniel Johnson's ninth goal of the season helped Preston pick up their second win on the bounce and move back into the top six.

The Tykes may feel that the scoreline is an unfair reflection of the game at Oakwell, as they had 59% possession and created a similar number of chances as the visitors.

Defensively, however, they were poor and seemed to miss Bambo Diaby, who was missing after failing a drug test.

His absence meant Aapo Halme dropped back into centre-back alongside Andersen and the duo didn't seem to gel.

The result means Barnsley remain in the relegation zone–sitting 22nd, four points away from safety.

The Tykes have conceded the second-most goals in the Championship this season but looked as if they have shored up the backline in recent weeks.

They looked far from solid last night, however, and it appears many Tykes fans believe that Andersen deserves some of the blame.
