Tottenham Hotspur announced that they have signed Leeds youngster, Jack Clarke, who will return to Elland Road on loan ahead of the new season.

It had previously been reported by Sky Sports that the deal was in the region of £8.5m, and the winger will be keen to justify that hefty price tag in the near future.

/Bzaj0IlhHAz/">Clarke took to Instagram following the announcement, and insisted that he is focusing on helping Leeds make a long-awaited return to the Premier League next season.

A number of Clarke's team-mates and former team-mates reacted to his move, with Jamie Shackleton, Tyler Roberts and Izzy Brown responding to his Instagram post on Tuesday.

Clarke made 24 appearances for the Yorkshire-based side last season, and struggled for a consistent run in the side in the second-half of last term, after being struck with a virus in their game against Middlesbrough earlier this year.

But he has shown glimpses of his exciting potential, and will be keen to play his part in Leeds' promotion bid this season under Marcelo Bielsa.

Competition for places is likely to be fiercely competitive in the Leeds squad next season as well, with Jack Harrison already signing up at Elland Road for another season.

Journalist, John Percy has recently revealed that Helder Costa is expected to sign on loan for Bielsa's side to add some much-needed depth to the Leeds squad.

The Verdict:

I think Clarke will play a starring role for Leeds' promotion bid next season.

He's a player who we didn't see the best of in last year's campaign, and he'll be keen to make up for list time after a spell out of the team due to illness.

If he can be given regular game time for Leeds, then I'd expect him to thrive under Bielsa's guidance as they look to make a timely return back into the top-flight.
